The Great Recovery Plan is a campaign hosted by Action For Sustainable Development, a global network of civil society groups and activists committed to a just and sustainable future. Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) is the fiscal and legal agent for Action for Sustainable Development. Your personal information will be processed by GCAP if you sign the Great Recovery Plan petition. 

We use Mailchimp as our marketing platform. By adding your signature to the open letter, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to Mailchimp for processing. Learn more about Mailchimp’s privacy practices here.

Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP), represented by the GCAP Global Foundation, takes your privacy seriously and manages your data in accordance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

​How does GCAP collect personal data?

GCAP only collects personal data that you give us yourself by signing up for the newsletter, joint statements, petitions and event invitations or attending events.

What personal data does GCAP process?

GCAP only collects the necessary personal data needed to carry out a service requested by you. This may include your first name, last name, employer, position in the organisation, email, phone number, and address. Pictures might be taken during events and used to promote the organisation on its website or social media.

When and why does GCAP process personal data?

GCAP only processes these data in certain situations:

  • if you have explicitly given your permission;
  • or, if it is necessary to process the data in order to provide a service you have requested (e.g. if you subscribe to receive event invitations and newsletters, or if you register for an event or sign a joint statement or petition);
  • or, if we are legally obliged to process the data;
  • or, if we are contractually obliged to process your data (e.g. funding projects).
How does GCAP treat personal data?

Sensitive personal data are always treated as confidential and never made public. Only members of the GCAP Secretariat are able to process your personal data for the above-mentioned purposes. The Secretariat is briefed on privacy regulations. We never pass on your contact details to third parties for commercial purposes.

How does GCAP use cookies?

We use cookies to analyse our traffic and to remember users’ language preferences. If you accept our use of cookies, this information gets shared with our analytics partner, Google Analytics. You are able to refuse the use of cookies on our website on the cookie notice banner, or you can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies.

Does GCAP keep my personal data safe?

Your data are processed safely, we use secure technologies and measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, use, loss or publication. These technologies and measures are tested on a regular basis and updated when necessary. We use usernames and passwords on all our systems and regularly back-up data to be able to recover them in case of physical or technical incidents. What can I do about my own personal data?

At the bottom of each mail you receive from GCAP, you will have the possibility to view, update and correct any of your contact details or unsubscribe.

​If you consider that your data have been handled incorrectly, you can submit a complaint to the Privacy Commission.
